What this site collects
Only what you choose to send us: an email, a call or text, or the project request form on the Start a Project page. Nothing is collected just by visiting.
The website grader
The instant grader on the Free Audit page gives two grades, and the website address you type is used two ways.
SEO grade: your browser sends the address straight to Google PageSpeed Insights, which loads that site and returns its scores. That part never reaches us. Google’s handling is described in Google’s privacy policy.
AEO grade: your browser sends the address to our web host. Our host reads that one public page to find the business name, what it does, and its town, then sends ten customer questions (for example, “Who is the best barber in Conway, Arkansas?”) to OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude), Perplexity, and Google (Gemini) through their developer services, which answer with web search. Only the questions and the page text go to them, never anything about you. We keep the site’s questions and answers for seven days so a repeat check is instant, then delete them. To limit how many checks run a day, we count checks by a scrambled copy of your IP address (one that cannot be turned back into the address) and delete the count after three days. Nothing is used for advertising or added to a mailing list.
Before a new AI check runs, Cloudflare Turnstile, an invisible bot check, runs in your browser so automated programs cannot run the paid check over and over. It does not set advertising cookies. Cloudflare’s handling is described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
If you choose to email us your grades, that email is handled like any other email below.
The question box
The “Ask Us a Question” box on the What Are AEO and SEO and AEO and SEO pages sends the question you type to our web host, which passes it, along with the text of this website’s own pages, to Anthropic (Claude) through its developer service to write a short answer. Please do not type personal details into it. We do not store your question or the answer. To limit use, questions are counted per day under a one-way scrambled copy of your IP address, and the counts are deleted after three days. Anthropic’s handling is described in Anthropic’s privacy policy.
The project request form
The form on the Start a Project page asks for your name, business, town, a phone number or email, and, if you like, your website, what you need, and a note. It never asks for a birth date or payment details. When you press send, the form goes from your browser to Web3Forms, a form delivery service, which emails it to our inbox. Web3Forms’ handling is described in its privacy policy. We use what you send only to reply about your project.
Client login
Clients can sign in to a private dashboard with an email and a password we set up with them. We keep the email, a one-way scrambled copy of the password (never the password itself), and the client’s own project and search numbers, on our web host, outside the public part of the site. Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in; it ends when you close the browser, sign out, or go two hours without a click. To stop repeated guessing, a wrong password is counted by email and by IP address for 15 minutes, then forgotten. For security, we keep a sign-in log of each sign-in, sign-out, failed try, dashboard view and report download, with the email, the time, the browser, the country and state, and a scrambled tag in place of the IP address, for 400 days. Nothing on the dashboard is shared with anyone else or used for advertising. Ask and we will close your login and delete what it holds.
Text messages
We text you only if you ask us to: by texting us first, or by checking the box on the request form. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time and we will stop. Your number is never sold or shared, and we do not send promotional texts.
Email you send us
When you email us, your name, email address, and whatever you write are used for two things only: to reply to you, and to do the work you ask for, such as a free website audit or a project. Your email is not sold, shared, or added to a mailing list.
What this site does not do
- No cookies on the public pages. The only cookie is the client login’s, described above.
- No analytics or visitor tracking of any kind, for now. If that changes, this page changes first.
- No advertising pixels, and no accounts other than client logins.
- No outside chat widgets or embedded social media feeds.
Fonts
The typefaces on this site, Poppins and Barlow, are stored on this site itself. Loading a page does not send a request to Google Fonts or any other font service.
Hosting
Like any website, this one is served by a web host, and that host keeps standard server logs: IP address, the page requested, browser type, and the time. Those logs are used to keep the site running and secure.
Links to other sites
The Work page links to websites built for clients. Each of those sites has its own privacy practices.
