Our Standard / Accessibility
Accessibility Statement
Everyone should be able to use this site, whatever device, browser, or assistive tool they use. Here is the standard we build to, how we test, and what is still open.
The standard
This site is built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium, with one known exception, explained below. Every site we build for clients is held to the same level, and any exception is named the same way. See our full standard.
What we did
- Text is 16px or larger for reading, and every word meets the 4.5:1 contrast rule.
- Links in text are underlined, so they do not depend on color.
- Every page has a skip link, and every button and field has a label a screen reader can read.
- The home page video has no sound and carries nothing that is not also in the text. It stays a still image for visitors who turn motion off in their device settings.
- The menu and the service tabs are built for keyboard use: Escape closes the menu, and arrow keys move between tabs.
- No accessibility widget or overlay. The site is built to work without one.
Known exception
The home page video and the strip of services under it move on their own, with no pause button. WCAG 2.2 asks for a way to pause motion that lasts more than five seconds (success criterion 2.2.2), so the home page does not meet that one criterion. We chose this for the look of the page, and we say so here rather than claim full conformance.
To stop the motion, turn on your device’s reduced motion setting and reload the page. Both become still.
- iPhone and iPad: Settings, Accessibility, Motion, Reduce Motion.
- Android: Settings, Accessibility, Remove animations.
- Windows: Settings, Accessibility, Visual effects, turn off Animation effects.
- Mac: System Settings, Accessibility, Display, Reduce motion.
Test log
- September 30, 2026, Work page, Jet Laundry entry. The Work page, after the Jet Laundry entry and its three screenshots were added, and the Website Design page after its review fixes (straight map routes, a flat legend for the layer labels, tier cards that line up), scanned with axe-core 4.13 against WCAG 2.2 A and AA at desktop (1280px) and phone (390px) widths: 0 failures. Without script, the demo buttons that would do nothing are hidden. On a data saver or slow connection the scroll animation shows its still picture, as the home video does. No sideways scrolling at six widths from 1920px down to 360px.
- September 30, 2026, Website Design showcase and tiers. The Website Design page, after five live demos (a scroll animation, layered backgrounds, a tap-through screen, a map, and an English and Spanish switch) and the three tiers were added, scanned with axe-core 4.13 against WCAG 2.2 A and AA at desktop (1280px) and phone (390px) widths, before and after using every demo: 0 failures. Every demo control is a real button reachable by keyboard; the tap-through screen moves focus to its next step and announces it. With reduced motion turned on, the scroll animation shows a still picture and the layers stay put. No sideways scrolling at six widths from 1920px down to 360px.
- September 29, 2026, new Work entry. The Work and Website Design pages, after a third project was added, scanned with axe-core 4.13 against WCAG 2.2 A and AA at desktop (1280px) and phone (390px) widths: 0 failures. No sideways scrolling at six widths from 1920px down to 360px.
- September 29, 2026, client login. The new sign-in page, its error message, and a signed-in dashboard scanned with axe-core 4.13 against WCAG 2.2 A and AA at desktop (1280px) and phone (390px) widths: 0 failures. No sideways scrolling at 390px or 768px. Passwords can be pasted and filled in by a password manager, with a Show password box, so signing in never depends on remembering or retyping a code. The header link shows only its lock icon between 1181px and 1440px wide; its words are still read out by screen readers.
- September 29, 2026, keyboard pass. Every page tabbed through from top to bottom at desktop and phone widths. Every link, button, and field was reached in order, with no traps. The skip link, the phone menu (Escape closes it), the service tabs (arrow keys), and the project request form all work by keyboard. Found and fixed: the yellow focus outline was too faint on white and paper backgrounds and on the yellow band, so those now get a dark outline. Page structure checked for screen readers: one main heading per page, no skipped heading levels, and a name on every control.
- September 29, 2026. Automated scan with axe-core 4.13 against WCAG 2.2 A and AA, all 14 pages, at desktop (1280px) and phone (390px) widths: 0 failures. Layout checked for sideways scrolling at nine widths from 1920px down to 320px: none.
- September 28, 2026. Workspace-wide scan found breadcrumb links that differed from nearby text by color only. Fixed: those links are now underlined.
Automated tools catch only part of what matters. Text over the moving video is checked separately, frame by frame, because scanners cannot judge it reliably.
Still open
- A screen reader pass by a person, listening with NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on iPhone. The keyboard pass and the page structure are done; hearing the pages read aloud is next.
- The website grader on the Free Audit page shows results and a phone screenshot that come from Google. We describe them in text, but we do not control Google’s image.
- Sites we link to, such as client sites on the Work page, have their own accessibility.
